"CRISIS 2013: YEAR OF GLOBAL MELTDOWN”^©

In the author’s adult series published under the major title, Fusion Energy ~ The Public’s Guide, Volume I  Averting Human Extinction: Energy Policy And Environmental Degradation, the causes of environmental and specie destruction were discussed at great length. Included in this discussion was the actual science behind global warming and climate change, the ENSO Cycles, El Niño/La Niña meteorological syndromes responsible for bringing extreme weather conditions: hurricanes, cyclones, tornadoes, simultaneous droughts and extreme flooding in various parts of the world with resultant reduction in available land mass on which to grow food, graze livestock, for humans to live and specie habitats to exist and economic commercial concerns that provide livelihoods and municipal tax revenue streams worldwide.

The most recent raw data collection and scientific research by the multinational Research TARA Team[1][1] which consisted of a multinational scientific research team who went to the Arctic and lived there continuously for 10 months at a time. Their investigative techniques included actual physical ice cutting and follow-on laboratory analysis by sensitive equipment, satellite-aided GPS, GPR, real-time elapse film documentation of the physical break-away sections of actual Arctic glaciers and the Polar cap measurements by sonar by British researchers on the Royal Navy’s HMS Tyngs submarine using the Royal Navy’s sophisticated sonar equipment to actually measure the thickness of the ice shelf of the Arctic Polar Cap[2][2], as well as Professor Peter Wadhams[3][3] Head of Cambridge University Department of Applied Mathematics and Ocean Physics, conducting his own independent research together with graduate students indicates that the Arctic glacier and Arctic polar shelf is thinning and therefore melting at a faster rate than had been anticipated even a short period ago.

                                  The Warning:

From the Andes to the Himalayas to the Alps, glaciers are melting:  a global meltdown has already begun.  Arctic glaciers are vanishing with an accelerated frequency in Antarctica (the Weddell and Wordie Ice Shelves written about in Volume I of Fusion Energy ~ The Public’s Guide).  This accelerated melting is causally-related to human activity of continuously burning fossil fuels worldwide, without cease.

                                          At Risk:

The TARA Research Team has estimated that within five years – or by 2013 – the Arctic glaciers will have melted to the point of an added 22’-0” of additional water covering the Earth’s surface globally. [4]

What is the risk? Worldwide coastal communities in the South Pacific and Bangladesh would be buried in water and cease to exist.  Worldwide island nations such as Islands of Japan, Greece, Greenland, Iceland, Turks and Caicos Islands, Grand and Little Bahamian Islands, Samoa, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Cuba, island-states such as the islands of Japan, Hawaii, British and American Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, just to name a few.  Major cities such as Venice Italy, New York City New York, Boston Massachusetts, New Orleans  Louisiana, Miami Florida, Miami Florida, Norfolk Virginia would all be adversely affected and permanently flooded in at least 15’-0” of newly risen water.

This means that any coastal city or municipal region now at or below sea level would be completely covered by this additional water rise.  If this glacial meltdown does occur, further natural disasters can be contemplated.

As these ice sheets melt, running off the land, the temperature of the sea water rises in addition to the height of the sea water.  Warmer sea temperatures fuels more intense hurricanes, cyclones, tornadoes, natural disasters such as simultaneous drought and flood in contiguous regions.  New Orleans and Miami, Florida saw this up close in 2005 as we all watched in horror.

                                       Action Required:

Now more than ever – without fail – we must democratically institute a grassroots movement and demand that the 111^th U.S. Congress employ all the taxpayer’s Treasury spent on thermonuclear fusion energy technology R&D since 1944 more propitiously and bring online “clean-green” self-sustaining non-polluting thermonuclear fusion energy technology for commercial electricity and alternative by-product transportation fuels (~87% energy demand in the USA) production from those fusion energy power plants that does not involve any fossil fuels, does not add any carbon dioxide (CO₂) or any other greenhouse gas, heavy metals, or toxic contaminants from burning or producing fossil fuels:  coal, petroleum oil No. 2 and 4, natural gas, methane, butane, propane, LNG, etc. that trap heat within the atmosphere leading to global warming and consequential climate change.  Fusion Energy does not contaminate environmental resources by PCBs (209 highly toxic contaminates), CFCs being exhausted through waste stacks of fossil fuel powerplants, manufacturing and process plants.

If the U.S. would recapture its state-of-the-art science and technology leadership role once again and illustrate to our global neighbors a pathway to save ourselves from our own fossil fuel burning activity, the U.S. alone could save billions of tons of greenhouse gas (i.e. CO₂, SO₂, CH₄, N₂O, SF₆, CFCs: HFCs, PFCs) production in the first year. While we cannot stop global warming now that it is in its own momentum, we could arrest it and prevent a year 2013 global meltdown crisis from occurring.  

If we are to believe the scientific evidence taken by submarine sonar readings by the U.K.’s Royal Navy measurements of the thinning Arctic Polar Shelf from year to year and the most recent multinational Research Team TARA that measured year-round the Arctic’s glaciers for the last few years, there is no more time to discuss it as “maybe.”  We must now precipitously and proactively jump into action to bring clean-green non-polluting thermonuclear fusion energy online immediately!

                              Proactive Benefits Summary:

The following is what we all have to gain from voicing our demand to Congress that thermonuclear fusion energy be brought online right now:

·        Avoidance of Arctic polar cap and Arctic glaciers melting, adding 22’-0” of water globally to all nations and all peoples worldwide!

·        Restoration of global environmental resources: clean air and water with a return to the proper 7.0pH of our agricultural – grazing soil worldwide.

·        Initiation of reversal of global warming and climate change.

·        Saving humans and many other species from extinction, due to their habitats being wiped out as a result of global warming and consequential climate change.

·         Revival of U.S. economy with the addition of many new clean-green economy jobs for Americans at home with anticipated U.S. full employment – only if thermonuclear fusion energy is brought online immediately.

·        New modern infrastructure by revived American economy  putting architects, consulting engineers, scientists and urban planners back to work.

·        Revival of America’s steel industry.

·        Renewed U.S. steel worker and miscellaneous metals manufacturing and distribution jobs.

·        Revival of closed dormant U.S. steel manufacturing plants

·        Elimination of heavy metals, slurry sludge spills, PCBs, CFCs in air, water and agriculture-grazing soil.

·        Elimination of much of the ground –level ozone responsible for the smog that sits on top of major cities causally-related to temperature inversion and global warming that creates climate change.

·        Elimination of ground-level ozone that is responsible for smog related chronic asthma, black lung disease, upper respiratory infections, lowered immune response to colds, viruses and flus.

·        Lowered case numbers of autism and other learning and behavioral disabilities and diseases.

·        Lowered medical bills and health insurance premium bills.

·        Lowered case numbers of prostrate, breast and blood cancer.

·        Revival of species on the brink of extinction.

·        Lowered numbers of terminal illnesses due to ground-level ozone known as carcinogens.

·        Lowered numbers of radon and radon daughters and black lung disease, lost miners and dangerous collapsed coal mines.

·        Elimination of foreign nation dependence for petroleum oil and LNG (liquid natural gas).

·        America can buy back her U.S. Treasury paper currently owed to China, Japan, Taiwan and other foreign nations currently subsidizing America’s foreign oil and gas importation yearly. 

·        Elimination of foreign state interference in America’s foreign policy by coercion or oil and gas supplies and prices.

·        Elimination of America having to enter future wars fought over oil and gas assets in foreign states that do not want American interests there.  This makes America’s energy security weaker, as it is now.

·        Thermonuclear fusion energy would be generated domestically by Americans on American soil, making America must more energy secure within Her own borders.

·        Elimination of asking America’s precious sons and daughters to be sent overseas to protect American oil and gas facilities as illustrated in the 1990 and 2003 Wars in Iraq.

·        Affordable, reliably priced electricity to base-load America’s growing recovered economy.

·        Affordable, reliably priced transportation fuel in all sectors of American transportation economy: marine, aviation, passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks, municipal cars and emergency vehicles, municipal buses.

·        Drastic reduction in human activity on global carbon footprint.

·        Drastic clean up of ambient atmosphere with return to 7.0 pH in drinking water.

·        Arrest of deep ocean rock and cave degradation.

·        Reduction in case numbers of children born with birth defects, learning and behavior disabilities and diseases.

·        America could recapture Her state-of-the-art science and technology leadership role that would enable other nations to emulate Her thermonuclear fusion energy science and technology, once online, thus reducing U.S. contribution to the world’s aggregate greenhouse gas production by more than 5,795,600,000 metric tons of CO₂, 15,790,000 metric tons of SO₂,  22,390,000 metric tons of NO_X (2002 measurements illustrated a 7.34-fold increase over the 1990 measurements.[4][5] 

With thermonuclear fusion energy powerplant technology online for electricity generation throughout America, at long last the initiation of the clean-green hydrogen economy will be possible.
